Happy Birthday Jake!

Today is my brother Jacob's 19th Birthday!  Happy Birthday weirdo.  I just want to post some pictures of one of the strangest most gentlemanly manly man that I know.  Here is Jake just doing the things he does:

Hiking in a slot canyon in Southern Utah.

Yard work.  That is what he loves.

My sister trying to get FAR away from him.  It is very normal.

Digging a grave for our cat Felix, who died in February

Enjoying the beautiful redrock and formations of Monument Valley
Making Faces.  That is pretty much all he does when he looks at me.

That is my brother!  He is quite awesome!  Although he is constantly messing around with me, and playing pressure point wars with me, I love him!  He is such a quiet gentleman when he is in public, he has an incredibly deep voice (my neighbor calls it "the voice of God"), he is hilarious, he can be super annoying with his fake high voice dancing on his tippy toes, but he is a super hard worker.  That is what he just loves.  You might think this is cheesy, but I wanted to put up a poem that he loves that pretty much sums him up.  Here it is:

Good Timber

    by Douglas Malloch
The tree that never had to fight
For sun and sky and air and light,
But stood out in the open plain
And always got its share of rain,
Never became a forest king
But lived and died a scrubby thing.

The man who never had to toil
To gain and farm his patch of soil,
Who never had to win his share
Of sun and sky and light and air,
Never became a manly man
But lived and died as he began.

Good timber does not grow with ease:
The stronger wind, the stronger trees;
The further sky, the greater length;
The more the storm, the more the strength.
By sun and cold, by rain and snow,
In trees and men good timbers grow.

Where thickest lies the forest growth,
We find the patriarchs of both.
And they hold counsel with the stars
Whose broken branches show the scars
Of many winds and much of strife.
This is the common law of life.

Happy Birthday Jake!  I love you!

Dog Days Are Over

So, in my communications class, we had to make music videos.  It was quite fun!  Three of my friends were in my group!  We did Florence + The Machine's song, Dog Days Are Over.  Here it is!  It is quite fantastic.  Enjoy.

You enjoyed the randomness of it all did you not?  It was really fun to make, and it was cool to learn how to edit and everything.  It involved us going to Walmart and me hiding a camera in my backpack every time an employee came near!  Have a good weekend everybody!

Sculpting Lessons

Today was pretty dang fun!  I found out I got 100% on my Chinese test, and I gave a sculpting lesson to my neighbors!  It was quite fun!  They were so cute, and they loved the sculptures I brought along to show!  I showed them my tools, gave tips, and helped them with their own little sculptures.  Man, there is some major potential for those kids.  I was impressed!  I cannot say that I am a good teacher, but I can say that my "students" are great at following instruction and advice!  When their parents came home later, they were so happy that their kids found something fun to do!  It was so fun to see how much the kids got into it!  Holston made a Jedi with a light-saber, Afton made a jack-o-lantern and a girl, and Talmage made a storm trooper helmet.  What is it with boys and Star Wars?  They were so creative and plain awesome!  Sometimes I think it would be fun to give little art classes.  It might be a good summer job!

>>  check out what you can do with Sculpey!

Hope you are inspired to do some sculpting.  have a good day!

Reflections. yuck I mean Yay!

So, as all students know, it is Reflections time again.  woo hoo, no exclamation point (at least for the literature part.  I've gotten to state for my sculpture two years ago (That is the highest level for 3D art)  which is great!  This year, I couldn't think of a good sculpture to fit the theme "Diversity is...".  Yeah.  But in my Honors English class, we have to enter the literature category, so here is my poem.  And yes, I know it is stupid.  But here you are my friends:

Diversity is in Front of Me

Diversity comes in many ways
From the darkest of night
To the brightest of days

Small and shortly
Little and scrawny
To big and portly
Huge and brawny

I’ll compare our faces as an example
Your cheeks are shallow, mine are quite ample
Lucky me, I have dimples
I’m sorry for you, you have pimples

So, from looking above to my stanzas of three
Diversity stands in front of me
And when you see someone tonight in your dream
Say, “Hey dude, you need some acne cream!”

Yeah, what did I tell you?  It is pretty darn forced out from my brain.  To all my friends, I hope that your entries are better than this.  Have a good day everyone!

Arsenic and Old Lace

Okay, my family watched Arsenic and Old Lace last night, and it was pretty much the best movie I have seen this year!!!!!  It was hilarious!  I haven't laughed so hard for months!  It is a comedy made in the 40s.  I won't say a whole lot about it, but there are two ladies that poison old lonely men to give them "peace".  They don't think it is wrong, which makes it even more funny!  There is a whole lot of other stuff going on, but that is a big part of it.  I highly highly recommend this movie to everyone!  PLEASE WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I promise it will make your life better!  It is also a great one to watch around Halloween!  Watch it.  Have a great day!

Positively Cheerful

Wow.  This blog looks really grey.  I'm not a depressing person, I actually have a decent personality, and I happen to love my dismal looking blog!  It is pretty much the best thing ever!  I just read some posts from my friend's blog, and it was so happy and cheerful!  I have decided to make my posts a little more cheerful!  See that?  I added an exclamation point.  Anywho, this blog will now be more cheerful.

Missionaries

I have two siblings that are on LDS missions right now, and one that will leave in December!  Here they are:

Elder Nathan B. Christofferson
 Sister Sarah Christofferson
(purple scarf is me last June.  I was crying, I promise.  I usually don't look that bad)
(soon to be) Elder Jacob "studly man" Christofferson
Yeah, Jake leaves in 52 days, Nate gets home in 53 days, and Sarah gets home in 65 days!  I'm sooooooooo excited!  It has been so cool to write to missionaries, and to see the lives they are living!  Nate is in Brazil, Sarah is in the Philippines, and Jake will go to Mexico!  December is our ''Missionary Month".  It is pretty awesome!!!!!!!  I aslo have a seventeen year old sister named Rebecca, but she'll have an entirely separate post soon!  Have a good day everyone!

Mason Jars

Can I just say that I love drinking out of mason jars?  Because I do!  I've never liked drinking out of ordinary cups for some reason.  For years I always used mugs, usually the ones I would paint at Color Me Mine, but now I don't like using those either.  So, about a month ago, I found the great solution!  Mason Jars!  I love the way they look, and they kind of are just cups that have screw-on lids.  Yeah, when I move to Ireland, the only thing I shall take with me is a box of mason jars!  (that will be a great adventure) Plus, you can also use them as lights, soap dispensers, candles, containers, vases, deserts cups, and for all your various canning needs :)  Quite handy, are they not?  Yep, mason jars will become a pretty big thing in my life now!  Really, I'm excited to use them!  I think they so awesome!  You may think this is a really dumb thing to get excited about, but I don't care!  Hooray for mason Jars!

The time has come

For all those people concerned about my well being today, I was sick.  That is how I know that the colder weather is FINALLY HERE!!!!!!!  Yippee!  I am so excited for the cold rainy wet wonderful cloudy weather that has been avoiding Utah for so long!  I loved watching the rain today!  It was cold and grey, and I would have been jumping in the gutter if I didn't have a nasty sore throat among other things.  Instead, I got out of bed at 6:45, could hardly talk without dying, went back to bed until 1, ate leftover lasagna, and watched How to Train your Dragon and Fantastic Mr. Fox!  Those are two of my favorite movies ever!  Sniff, and then, I had to miss my guitar lesson.  Second time in two weeks.  I feel like I should pay my mom back this month.  Yeah, that was my pretty good/bad day.  Have a wonderful evening!
